African Immigrants Community Services

(AICS) was established as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit in March 2006 to meet the educational, social, cultural and economic needs of Somali immigrants in Minnesota.

AICS puts a strong emphasis on developing personal relationships between participants and staff. The values that AICS upholds are central when addressing the needs of the community: dignity and respect; trust and understanding; compassion, empowerment and self-sufficiency; flexibility and creativity; authentic leadership; and quality of effectiveness. AICS employs a bilingual and multicultural staff servicing East Africans who are primarily Somali, Oromo and Amharic speakers. The AICS board, volunteers, and staff are committed to promoting the success of East Africans by strengthening families, fostering economic independence and inculcating harmony with host community.

ACIS mainly service refugees from East Africa. Over 90% of its clients are from Somalia. The focus of our service provision is based upon the needs of the community, which are determined through the experiences of staff through direct services.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
