The 20th Annual Como Park Japanese Obon Festival is Next Month!
Bonsai, martial arts, singing, dancing, drumming, delicious food and a host of other cultural exhibits and demonstrations will line several paths throughout the grounds of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory for the 20th annual Como Park Japanese Obon Festival.

The Como Park Japanese Obon Festival will be held on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 3:00pm-9:00pm. Admission is $5.00 per adult (13+), $3.00 per child (ages 3-12) and Seniors (ages 65+), free for children under 3. Free shuttle bus service will be available from a staffed off-site parking lot located at 1930 Como Ave.

We have expanded the footprint of the festival, added more food vendors, entertainment, exhibitors, and porta-potties.

July is the first full month of summer, and with more people engaging in food-related outdoor activities such as picnics and barbecues, the risk of food-borne illnesses rise. There are nearly 30 farmers markets and mini-markets operating in Minneapolis in 2018. The Farmers Markets of Minneapolis collaborative officially formed in early 2017. Current activities include collaborative metrics collection, marketing, technical assistance and other collaborative opportunities to build a more connected, accessible and effective market system, in partnership with the City of Minneapolis, University of Minnesota, Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council, Minnesota Department of Agriculture and other market champions. The collaborative welcomes and encourages all markets to participate.
