Holistic Healthcare System
Health Clinics Map. Availability of clinics map ensures access to primary care services to help people stay healthy and avoid disease. Primary care can improve health across an entire population. Access to a clinic can reduce preventable hospitalizations. Areas with more primary care physicians have lower rates of mortality and better overall self-reported health. Additionally, health assets are all of the resources a community inherently combines that promote or protect health.
In North Minneapolis, 41.5% of residents say their overall health is either excellent or very good, compared with 62.2% of all Minneapolis residents (Hennepin County. SHAPE Survey 2010). While the Asset Map includes only one map for the healthcare facilities located, people can take different maps layering to one and another to look at how asset maps as displaying information that promotes health. Pay attention to some areas may be as food desert, and no easily accessible healthcare facility near by, which are the 2 main reasons creating such health disparities in the North side.
