Bicultural Healthy Living Strategies

Vision

African American/Black and Asian American Residents in North Minneapolis will appreciate healthy lifestyles that transcend cultural beliefs and modern practices.

Mission

To increase and maintain physical activity at all levels, with a special focus on children and youth.

Targeted Audience: General Public

Campaign materials will share with mainstream audiences, as well as African American/Black and Asian American community leaders and mentors.  Please use BALL campaign materials to promote the importance of physical activity and healthy living, and remind parents with Bicultural Healthy Living approaches, to ensure balance in their children’s lives while being creative, and carving out options with a cultural twist.

 

Campaign Materials and Activities include:

  • BALL Booklet – explaining the Bicultural Healthy Living Framework – the backbone of the BALL Campaign design
  • BALL Brochure – exposing the challenges and the needs of the BALL Campaign, along with the possible solutions
  • BALL Folding Card – introducing bicultural activities that parents can do at home/schools/communities to support their youth.  Use these folding cards with tips on how they can help youth make physical activity a part of daily life
  • Bus Poster and Door Hanger utilizing the cute fruit characters to introduce BALL, targeting family audiences
  • BALL Website
  • BALL eNewsLetter with 6 information sharing category: 1) Complete Street; 2) Cultural Exercises; 3) Green Events; 4) Green Rx; 5) Healthy Food; 6) Transportation

  • BALL eReminder – Free tickets to Twins, Timberwolves, and Lynx games, to inspire younger to exercise more

Additionally, other Conventional Media materials for Prints and Face-to-Face Outreach Opportunities will all be developed:

  • 4 Press Release per Year
  • 2 Success Stories per Year
  • Marketing Events centered around: Cultural Exercise Try-Outs; Cultural Dance Performances; Hip Hop Dance Competition; and Area Health Fairs and Summer Festivals, etc.
